Nominasi untuk Grammy Awards ke-56 Tahun 2014, telah diumumkan melalui sebuah tayangan live di stasiun televisi CBS pada tanggal 6 Desember lalu. Berbagai kejutan yang menyenangkan dan juga menyebalkan berhasil menjadi bagian dari dampak pengumuman tersebut. Jay Z, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Timberlake, dan Pharrell Williams adalah beberapa nama yang mendominasi daftar perolehan nominasi Grammy untuk tahun 2014. Beberapa hal yang mengejutkan juga tidak luput, seperti: Justin Timberlake yang gagal masuk nominasi ke dalam 3 penghargaan utama meskipun meraih 7 nominasi, Lorde yang tidak terpilih sebagai salah satu artis yang masuk kategori pendatang baru terbaik, dan Sara Bareilles yang albumnya “Blessed Unrest,” secara dramatis mendapatkan nominasi album terbaik. Beberapa nama yang sebelumnya sudah banyak diunggulkan untuk memperoleh nominasi, seperti Taylor Swift, Imagine Dragons, Ed Sheeran, dan Adele juga berhasil memenuhi prediksi.
