Dolby Theater, Hollywood, Los Angeles telah menjadi saksi atas film-film terbaik pilihan Academy Awards. Dipandu oleh comedian Neill Patrick Harris, penghargaan yang telah mencapai usia ke-87 dan ditayangkan di lebih dari 225 negara itu dipastikan membawa banyak sekali kejutan. Kejutan datang ketika acara penghargaan ini baru mengumumkan nominasinya pada 15 Januari lalu. Sejumlah drama juga telah muncul, termasuk tidak masuknya film “The Lego Movie” dalam kategori “Best Animated Feature.”
Kejadian tersebut kemudian diperparah dengan gagal masuknya penulis naskah Gyllian Flinn (Gone Girl), serta tak adanya nominasi untuk Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) dan Jennifer Aniston di film “Cake.” Jadi tidak heran, sejumlah media berani menyebut perhelatan tahun ini memliki Oscar Snub terbanyak dibanding tahun-tahun sebelumnya.
Menyampingkan hal-hal tersebut, kita langsung kepada kabar gembiranya. Film “Birdman” didapuk sebagai film terbaik 2015. Dengan pencapaian ini, film “Birdman” memboyong dengan total empat piala. Tiga lainnya untuk kategori sutradara terbaik, naskah asli terbaik, dan sinematografi terbaik. Kemudian, disusul film “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” yang membawa pulang kategori “Best Original Score,” desain produksi terbaik, kostum terbaik, serta tata rias dan rambut terbaik. Film “Boyhood” yang diunggulkan hanya membawa pulang satu piala untuk kategori pemain wanita pendukung terbaik.
