Ajang penghargaan tertinggi bagi insan perfilman Hollywood “Academy Awards” (Oscar) yang ke-87 akhirnya telah mengumumkan beberapa daftar nominasi. Beberapa daftar nominasi tersebut diumumkan oleh sutradara J.J Abrams dan Alfonso Cuaron serta aktor film “Star Trek,” Chris Pine. Ajang ini sendiri akan dilaksanakan pada 22 Februari 2015 mendatang di Hollywood`s Dolby Theater. Acara yang nantinya akan dipandu oleh Neil Patrick Harris ini nantinya akan ditayangkan di lebih dari 225 negara.
Film drama bertema ‘superhero’ yang dibintangi Michael Keaton yaitu “Birdman” berhasil memimpin dengan perolehan total 9 nominasi. Saingan terbesar film “Birdman” tidak lain adalah film komedi arahan Wes Anderson, “The Grand Budapest Hotel” yang juga meraih 9 nominasi. Dua film ini nantinya juga akan bersaing dengan film “American Sniper,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “The Imitation Game,” “Selma,” “The Theory of Everything” dan “Whiplash” dalam kategori Best Picture Piala Oscar 2015 .
Pengumuman nominasi Oscar ini bukan tanpa kontroversi. Banyak yang menyangkan tidak masuknya beberapa nomine yang sebelumnya diunggulkan. Sebut saja Jack Gyllenhaal dalam film “Nightcrawler” yang tak mendapat nominasi aktor tebaik, “The Lego Movie” yang didepak dari nominasi “Film animasi terbaik’, serta film yang sukses luar biasa secara komersil dan pujian “Gone Girl” yang hanya mendapat 1 nominasi saja untuk Rosamund Pike sebagai aktris terbaik.
